News> Game 3 - Topballerz vs Express

December 4, 2011

Brice AssieNEW HAVEN-The Connecticut TopBallerz took their first loss of the season Saturday night vs. the New Jersey Express with a score of 124-120.

“I give a lot of credit to the Express for playing a very tough game, I am proud of the way we fought until the end. We need to get more rebounds and more defensive stops. If we do that- we win the game.”

It was a difficult start for the TopBallerz as the Express were up by as much as 15 in the first half.

“We were not focused the first half,” said New Haven’s own Bobby Moore. “Coming out of the locker room for the second half, we felt much more pride as a team and it showed in our play on the court.

Brice Assie and John Winchester lead the team in scoring with 20 points a piece and  Bobby Moore had 17 points, 4 assists and 5 steals.

“We need to trust each other, as a team, you need to trust that the other 4 guys on the court with you, as well as the ones on the bench will always make the best decisions for the team as a whole,” said John Winchester. “This was a learning experience, and the greatest thing about basketball is we don’t have to wait a long time between games to redeem ourselves. We will be ready to play tomorrow.

The TopBallerz next home game is scheduled for Saturday December 10th at The Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center located at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven.
